Inflation Takes a Toll on Local Stocks in ‘22

Back to Insights

December 27, 2022

A Cincinnati Business Courier review of 22 locally based companies finds 18 of those stocks lost value in 2022. Still, the two largest companies, Procter & Gamble and Kroger, fared better than the overall market. Our Jim Russell was asked why:

“Investors seek companies that represent stable and predictable revenues and dividends, are well-managed and a relatively stable earnings profile in this time of economic concern. Procter & Gamble has executed nicely as a post-Covid world demands a higher degree of cleanliness globally. We are encouraged by the progress and approach by new top management.”

“Kroger has been effective in terms of generating continued growth in an increasingly competitive grocery category. Same-store sales volumes have continued to firm as the company appears to be taking market share.”
