Impact of the GE Split

Back to Insights

November 9, 2021

The recent split of General Electric Co. into three separate enterprises leaves many wondering the impact on Evendale-based GE Aviation. WCPO reporter Dan Monk asks our Kevin Gade if the revamp could result in downsizing manufacturing and research divisions in the region.

“Certainly, there’s risk to any restructuring of large organizations such as General Electric, but to the degree that the focus and the strategy remains aviation, at this point we don’t see any risk to jobs here locally,” said Kevin Gade, portfolio manager at Bahl & Gaynor Investment Counsel.

Two other divisions (health care and energy) will be become publicly traded companies. The larger question may be whether the remaining core business, jet engines, could become headquartered in Cincinnati.
